Lynn Allred

Lynn AllredLynn was born in Perth Amboy, and raised in Edison, NJ. She graduated with a double major in Psychology and Communications from Allegheny College located in Meadville, PA and took some graduate courses at Biblical Theological Seminary in Hatfield, PA. At nine years of age Lynn was diagnosed with Type I diabetes. After 24 years of dealing with complications from diabetes, including blindness and renal failure she received a Simultaneous kidney/pancreas transplant. Only the second to be done at her transplant center, Albert Einstein Medical Center in Philadelphia. After 13 years as a recipient her transplanted kidney failed from chronic rejection. A close friend donated one of her kidneys to Lynn and thanks to two incredible donors she is active in organ and tissue donation awareness. Her pancreas is still functioning which has enabled Lynn to be diabetes free for 20 years.
