Donald was born and raised in New York. He graduated from George Washington High School. Employed by Harrison, Schonberg & Fawer an Accounting firm, he worked his way up to Junior Accountant. After eleven years of employment with the National Organization for Women Legal Defense and Education Fund as an assistant to the controller he was diagnosed with cardiomyopathy. Donald was listed as a candidate for a heart transplant in 1995 and transplanted on August 2, 1996 at Columbia Presbyterian Hospital in New York City. Since his transplant he has met his donor’s family and continues to have an ongoing relationship with them. He has lived to see his grandchildren and his two sons and daughters grow and mature. His greatest gift came on July 24, 2004 when he married his queen who captured his heart Muriel T. Haywood.
